Boom Energy
‘Sustainability’ is the word of the moment, and the future for energy.
A festival for a city of twenty thousand is not made without using a lot of energy. Sound systems, lights, performances, transport, construction, everything needs energy. And for most of the modern western world, energy means burning some form of fossil fuel. Not for us.
Boom is to be free from the hold of fossil energy. Not just as another solar gimmick or some wind freak show, we want our energy to be renewable so that we can have this festival for decades to come without destroying the planet. And we are doing this.
In 2008 we will begin to use generators powered by used vegetable oil. That’s right, recycled veggie oil. This way we can have the huge amounts of watts we need to put on the show while we contribute to the production of sustainable resources. In the future, we continue to generate more energy from the sun and wind, as we have done over the last decade.
