Boom History
Does anyone remember the year of 1997? And does anyone remember Boom 97?
Let´s assume that the 3,500 trancers that went to Portugal still have it in memory. It was a gathering of three days for the trance tribe in a country that was giving its first steps in this scene.
People from the entire world transformed a Mediterranean forest in a micro-Goa environment – which was one of the main goals.
One year later Boom gave 5,000 people one of their best experiences. Who can forget the amazing live act of Quirk? And the morning set of Frank’E after sidereal moments with Kox Box… In two years Boom got a reputation of a top psy-trance festival, known by a fantastic mood and held in an easygoing corner of Europe.
But Boom pushed the boundaries in 2000. Together with psy-trance in Boom 2000 there was a convention area and an eclectic music area. Electro anyone? What about minimal? Yes, long before electro and minimal became hype in modern music, the Journeys Area at the Boom had a mix of electro, reggae and minimal.
Psy-trance was a mega dance floor that unified 12,000 people and the convention area was Boom’s first approach to the world of knowledge.
The festival expanded its limits: the usual imaginary of the trance scene (mainly mysticism) was, for the first time ever in an event, in contact with Ufology, Entheongens, American and Siberian Xamanism or cutting edge Biology all together…
With such a wide approach Boom faced two more editions: 2002, 2004 and 2006. Every year the concept has been evolving from the main base: connecting arts, culture and knowledge. Taking off as a psy-trance event, Boom is now a visionary entertainment happening where people can have fun but also get values and awareness with it
Do we remember 97? How could we forget the starting point of this adventure?...
