Survival Guide - Dogs Not Allowed
Do you think that you love your domestic animal (dog, cat or other)? Do you really feel that you are his best friend? Do you think that bringing your domestic animal into Boom is a consequence of your love for him? You are WRONG!
Bringing your domestic animal to Boom is both a mistake and a lack of respect to your pet and other visitors of Boom.
Most importantly, you are putting your pet in risk of life. Here are 6 selected reasons why not to bring your domestic animal (pet):
1. Domestic Animals are Forbiden at Boom:
No animals are allowed on-site, Guide dogs for the blind excepted. All domestic animals found onsite will be arrested and kept at the Kennel until the end of the event or until its owner leaves the Boom grounds, whichever comes first. Owners of these “arrested” animals will be charged a fine before being able to retrive their pet.
2. Leshmoniose:
Boom venue is located amidst one of the most dangerous zone of Leishmaniasis disease. This strand of disease does not afect humans – but does severelly afect animals.
Leishmaniasis is an infection of domestic animals that causes many deaths in several parts of Asia, Africa, South America and southern Europe. It is transmitted by a certain type of sand fly and mosquito that are quite common in Southern Europe.
Check the following link for geographical distribution (World Health Organisation):

The disease is severe, causing clinical signs in many organs. These are: extreme weakness, wasting, diarrhea, epistaxis, lameness, anemia, renal failure, edema of the feet, dermal ulceration, eye inflammation leading to blindness, lymphadenopathy and hepatosplenomegaly.

Most of the domestic aninals die due to this type of symptoms. They suffer, they have extreme pain and they will agonise. If you really love your dog or other domestic animal, do you really want to expose him to this kind of dangers? And risk loosing your best friend?...
3. Dehydratation:
While you are having fun, your dog or other domestic animal will be “frying” somewhere at a temperatures well above 30º Celsius. He will be dehydratated and with no water.
Water, even if it is not a real nourishing substance, must be considered a nourishment because it is irreplaceable and necessary to the survival of all living beings: indeed, animals can survive the loss of almost all their bodily fat and of more than a half of their proteins, but they die if only they lose 10% of their bodily water.
4. Overheating:
It is a fact that most domestic animals including dogs overheat quicker than humans. For example, dogs wear their fur coat all year long and they do not sweat. They cool their bodies by panting, or blowing out heat, which is much less effective than sweating. Even if you are comfortable, your dog may be too hot!
Heat stroke happens when heat gain exceeds the body's ability to dissipate heat. High temperatures cause chemical reactions that break down body cells which lead to dehydration and blood thickening. This puts extreme strain on the heart and causes blood clotting and subsequent death to tissue.
Liver, brain and intestinal cells are usually the first to be affected and this can occur quickly. Normal body temperature for a dog is about (38º Celsius/101 F). If his temperature reaches 40º Celsius/106 F, he is in danger of brain damage, vital organ failure and death. Reducing body temp quickly is imperative. A dog who recovers can still have organ damage and lifelong health problems. Ambiante temperatures above 40º Celsius/106 F are extremely dangerous for pets.
These kind of high temperatures are quite common at the Boom location. So once more bringing your pet can hurt him for life.
5. Extreme Noise!:
By bringing your pet to Boom you are exposing him to an environment full of loud music. You are contributing to a severe disease, noise anxiety.
Noise induced anxiety in pets causes some signs such as a anxious, nervous dog who may shake, hide, or engage in some nervous behavior (biting someone, etc.). This behavior can be seen in pets during thunderstorms, which are not as loud as 75.000 Watts sound systems available at Boom.
6. Pet Bites and fights!:
There is no way to guarantee that your domestic animal will never bite someone. In the past Boom editions several persons have been biten, causing harsh consequences towards the owners of the inflicting pet.
Also fight inbetween pets is quite frequent due to the high stress factors and have already resulted in animal deaths in the past editions.
