Fleamarket Rules & Conditions
Introduction:
Boom is a festival of independent culture and artistic expression. An intercultural, inter generational event that is also a pioneer in sustainable solutions as the basis of bewildering entertainment. Boom accelerates its path towards the envisioned sustainable large scale event, all efforts are being made both structurally and socially to create a temporary independent zone within this reality . One of the sustainability innovations for 2008 is that the Flea Market Area will be powered by generators using recycled veggie oil.
Boom Flea Market Area is again presented with the intention to invite and support groups of artisans with a creative alternative mind, and to socially support people that push and transform into art the decadent constraints of mainstream consumerism. This area is also created to generate a wealth of cultural interchange, fair trade and artistic empowerment.
It is expected that Boom 2008 will once again grow in size, possibly reaching around 25.000 visitors. The Flea Market Area will keep its fare size of 50 stalls, creating real exchange opportunities for every stall owner.
How to apply for a possible reservation for your stall?

Note! All Stall Application subscriptions must be received by our services until the 30th May 2008.
Participation:
All online Stall Application Subscriptions will be screened, prior to acceptance, in order to ensure that:
* Wide range of stores that are balanced and in conformity with Boom festival’s principles and with the Portuguese law;
* Only well projected and beautiful stores are accepted;
Preference will be given to stalls selling ecological or fair trade products and/or self powered by sustainable energy (photovoltaic or other).
Your stall is part of an Art festival as such it should be as beautiful as possible. Harmonize with the space, build with elegance. If your stall proposal is not in conformity, your proposal will not be accepted for possible reservation. You will be advised of the decision by the Boom Flea Market Management staff.
Eco Deposit:
With intent to engender a little more consciousness into all the participants and stall owners, Boom as introduced a fixed Eco Deposit of €250 (two hundred and fifty Euros). This deposit must be made at the same time as the payment of your rental fee.
The deposit will be returned to you upon the positive evaluation of cleanliness of your area when you leave the Boom premises. The evaluation team will be looking into the general state of cleanliness in and around your stall location. An area of up to 5 meters around your stall will be considered affected by your business.
With this new Eco Deposit we are looking into achieving the ideal circumstance of receiving your stall spot and immediate surroundings as clean as you received them.
In case of a negative evaluation the Eco Deposit will not be returned and your stall will not be accepted again in future Booms. The evaluation will be done by the Ecoteam manager allocated to the Boom Flea Market Area.
Rental Fee Rates:
The rental fee that you have to pay before your full acceptance into the Boom Flea Market Area is your contribution to the organizational costs. Those being: idealization of your space, maintenance, general cleanliness, power grid, etc.
Price per m2 25 €
Minimum area to rent 12 m2
Opportunity!: A special discount of 50% will be given to stalls that are self powered on energy requirements only by the use of sustainable energy (only wind or solar power).
* All fees include ONE SMALL VEHICLE PASS. This vehicle (CAR) must be placed behind your stall. Other vehicles that you might bring will not be allowed at the Flea Market Area and must be placed in the general parking.
* Entry tickets are NOT included in this rental fee. All store members must purchase their tickets. The stall rates presented above are only for rental of space. To get information about tickets, their prices and sale conditions please visit our site (http://www.boomfestival.org).
General Conditions:
* Private generators and sound systems are totally forbidden. No exceptions!
* You are allocated a working space, not the infrastructures. Infrastructures have to be built by you. And taken down at the end. You are responsible to take away your construction material garbage.
* All stores have a female electrical plug (EU Standard), allowing a maximum consumption of 0.2 KWatts of 220 Volts (the equivalent of 17 Economy lamps). This is already included into your store rental fee.
* To connect to Boom’s power grid you must have a grounded electrical extension of 50 meters. We suggest you use one with a safety switch.
* If your electrical consumption is over the agreed, or if you connect other stalls to your system without the prior consent of Boom Festivals electrical supervisor you will be disconnected from the electric grid.
* For safety and wellbeing reasons there is to be no motor vehicles circulating inside festival premises. Therefore, those of you who have a previously identified vehicle, can park behind your allocated space. Once the festival starts all vehicles are to remain stationary. If vehicles are moved from their assigned location they will not be permitted to re-enter the Festival premises.
* You must have always at hand a fire extinguisher in your stall. This will be checked on by our staff.
* Keep your space clean and show others how to do it. Please promote and defend the beauty and harmony of your stall as well as those around you.
Stall Contest:
Once again we will be holding the most beautiful shop contest. This year there will be three prizes: one for the most ecological shop, one for the most beautiful at night and one for the most beautiful at day! The rewards are the full return of the rental fee and an article on the last edition of the daily dragon newspaper.
