DANCE TEMPLE ARTISTS BRING IT ON!!!
TWENTY NINE DAYS TILL BOOM! As the countdown begins and the anticipation mounts, we speak to some of the most dynamic DJs and producers that will be fuelling the energy at the Dance Temple this year. Here’s what some of them had to say…
Message to Boomers:
Gus Till: “Attend with open ears, open eyes and an open mind – leave with an empty wallet and a heart full of joy…. and don’t forget to clean up after yourself!!!!”
OOOD: Take care of each other and the environment; don’t use soap or piss in the lake. That said, lets av’ it!!!
Phatmatix: “2010 has been hard for most of us – wherever we live… The world is driving mad and it’s not so easy to forget all that shit around us… Boom is a perfect celebration for respect, joy, and freedom – a pure moment of happiness…. So lets do it 150 % and make some nice souvenirs for our old days!”
Jahbo: “Let your expectations go and enjoy the Boom with a fresh mind. Involve yourself and give energy back to the fellow Boomer. It’s an experience of a lifetime. Be positive!!!”
Aki (Species): “You make sure you bring your creativity and positive energy, and I make sure I’ll give you a ride you won’t forget!”
On playing at Boom this year:
OOOD: We’re honoured to have been asked and we’re very excited indeed. The Boom dance floor is legendary; playing there has been a dream of ours since the festival began and we feel as though we’ve been rewarded for the simple act of creating the psychedelic music we love. It’s amazing. We’ve never been happier with our music than now and this incredible opportunity has come along at a time when we’re jamming together on stage like never before. Add to this the fact it will be our first audio-visual set – totally unlike anything we’ve done before and – hopefully – unlike anything many people there will have heard or seen before too, especially if they have heard our name but not heard our music or seen us play!
Phatmatix: “I’m proud and excited to play at the dance temple. It’s a great honour.”
Jahbo: “I am very exited to play at the Dance temple – even if I have played at boom before… It keeps giving me butterflies in the stomach. It’s a great experience to stand there in front of thousands and thousands of people, and to be the story teller for a moment of the night. The energy flow is massive! Wow!!!”
Aki (Species): I feel very honoured to be invited to play at the Dance Temple and that people from the BOOM recognized that my music is worth being played at one of the worlds biggest dance floors!
On the kind of sound we can expect to hear (from you) at this year’s Boom:
Gus Till: “My Stuff! The best of my output for Flying Rhino/TIP/Dragonfly et al from those Halcyon days of yore – Slinky Wizard, Stoop and Fidget and BUS toons… Particularly from the unfortunately never-released BUS album, ‘My Body is my Nightclub’, which I’m currently re-vamping for the event… Also some tunes from the criminally neglected, appallingly overlooked BUS album from 2005, which I’m also re-upholstering for 2010.”
OOOD: OOOD are opening the Dance Temple at 10pm on Sunday so we have the opportunity to play a more eclectic set than we would if we were playing in the middle of a session before and after other acts. It’s great to play from silence, when people are waiting for something special to start the second half of the festival. Part of our set will be performed as the soundtrack to a specially-created activist film, so we have to think carefully about how the vibe of our music works with the story of the film, as well as how the dance floor will react. It’s a unique challenge for us but from the work we’ve done so far I think we will be happy with it. On stage we will have guitar, keyboards, electronic percussion, two laptops, four people and a Barbie doll.
Phatmatix: “My live act is a preview of my next album, the third one. This time i wanted something new – so I explored classical music a bit more than usual and remixed (if we can call it like that ) some masterpieces of Beethoven, Mozart etc… This might be really surprising for people who didn’t really expect me to go in this direction.”
Jahbo: “I play a live-set for the first time at Boom. In previous years I played as DJ. It will be a set of new and older material, a magical story with focus and depth and a trance-ing drive without too many breaks. And most important, it will be very psychedelic thus danceable!”
Aki (Species): “As this is the First time I play at BOOM, and as I know there will an international crowd that follows various genres of electronic music, I will try to make my music-drive interesting for all party people on the dance floor!”
PBS, Post Boom Syndrome is around! Team is now cleaning the Boom site and memories are strong. We loved this edition - thanks Boomers! ;-) Go8 hours ago
