BOOM LOCATION – Idanha-a-Nova
WHERE IS THE BOOM FESTIVAL?
The Boom Festival is in Idanha-a-Nova, Portugal. It is situated in a beautiful place in Portugal’s inland, near the Spanish border.
It is about 250 km from Lisboa. The closest Portuguese main city is Castelo Branco.
From Madrid you take around 350 km and the closest Spanish town is Cáceres.
HOW TO GET THERE?
1. BY BOOM BUS
Please note that online ticket sales for Boom Bus tickets is now closed. A limited number of Boom Bus tickets will be sold from Lisbon airport only on 28 JULY. It will be sold from the Boom Welcome Desk at Lisbon Airport Terminal One, Arrivals, on a first come first serve basis between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon.
Alternatively you will have to arrange transport via public transport, using your own vehicle or via the lift sharing service.
For those of you that have already purchased tickets, this service provides direct and comfortable transport from Lisbon, Madrid, Paris and Grenoble directly to the festival, returns and possible connection with the After Boom.
The Boom Bus is a charter bus service for a safer, more conformable and sustainable Boom Experience. It is part of our environmental program as a public transport, aiming to decrease CO 2 emissions.
Boomers traveling with in this service will have the possibility to get inside the festival one day before the rest of the public and ensure the best spots to camp.

2. BY LIFT SHARING SERVICE
Make use of our lift sharing service to arrange transport to Boom. Register for the service at: www.boomfestival.liftshare.com
Sharing a lift to the Boom is not only a fun adventure, but an environmentally and economically sustainable way of travelling to the festival. By arranging this service, we are helping to significantly reduce the level of CO2 emissions generated by so many vehicles travelling to the Boom.
3. BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
A. PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM LISBON
- From Lisbon travel to Castelo Branco. This can be done either with the bus or the train. Please refer to the bus station website (www.rede-expressos.pt) and train station website (www.cp.pt) for departure times, costs and further information.
- From Castelo Branco travel to the Boom Festival venue.
- If you arrive on the 28th or 29th of July take the shuttle directly to the Boom Festival venue. The shuttle leaves frequently between 8:00 am until 1:00 am. Please note that the shuttle also operates from the Boom Festival site back to Castelo Branco on 3 and 4 August.
- If you arrive on 30 July or later take the local public transport to Idanha-a-Nova, the closest village to the Boom Festival. From the Idanha-a-Nova bus station take the bus to the Boom Festival venue.
B. PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM MADRID
- From Madrid travel to Castelo Branco by train. This is a two step journey and you will have to change trains at Entroncamento station. Please refer to the Madrid train station timetable (www.renfe.com) and the Entroncamento station time table (www.cp.pt) for for departure times, costs and further information.
- From Castelo Branco travel to the Boom Festival venue.
- If you arrive on the 28th or 29th of July take the shuttle directly to the Boom Festival venue. The shuttle leaves frequently between 8:00 am until 1:00 am. Please note that the shuttle also operates from the Boom Festival site back to Castelo Branco on 3 and 4 August.
- If you arrive on 30 July or later take the local public transport to Idanha-a-Nova, the closest village to the Boom Festival. From the Idanha-a-Nova bus station take the bus to the Boom Festival venue.
4. BY VEHICLE

A. BY VEHICLE FROM LISBON
- Take the A1 motorway (Exit A23) towards Torres Novas.
- Take the A23 towards Castelo Branco.
- Drive past Castelo Branco
- Take the Lardosa / Idanha-a-Nova exit.
- Follow the signs to Idanha-a-Nova.
- At the Idanha-a-Nova roundabout follow the signs to the Boom Festival.
B. BY VEHICLE FROM MADRID
- Take the A5 motorway towards Plasencia / Portugal
- Take the EX-108 towards Coria / Portugal.
- Follow the signs towards Portugal.
- Once in Portugal follow the signs to Idanha-a-Nova
- At the Idanha-a-Nova roundabout follow the signs to the Boom Festival.
