Be mindful: if you love your pet don’t bring it to Boom Festival. PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT BOOM
Having a pet has many benefits, both mental and physical. Besides stress relief, pets provide entertainment, companionship, and comfort. Pets provide a distraction from one’s own problems and can relieve depression and anxiety and even physical pain.
With pet ownership come responsibilities. One of them is not to expose a pet to environments where they can acquire high levels of stress. For instance, highly potent sound systems like the ones at Boom can produce noise anxiety in pets.
In the region of Portugal where Boom is held temperatures can rise up to 40º Celsius, which could cause extreme dehydration to your pet.
Plus in this region of the Iberian Peninsula, there are high rates of leishmaniasis, a illness that causes extreme pain and is deadly to pets. The subspecies of the parasite Leishmania donovani can infect dogs, causing a disease form called visceral leishmaniasis. Dogs serve as a reservoir of infection. The disease is transmitted among dogs and to people by sandflies.
Other issue is the fact that in past editions there has been many cases of dogs abandoned and incidents with fellow Boomers by pets that were left alone and in stress were troubling people physically.
Bringing your pet to Boom can be painful for your animal and can cause risks of public health to other Boom participants. Think twice.
