Many of the natural materials used for construction reflect Boom’s ethos for ecology. We try very hard to use as little as possible when it comes to manufactured raw materials. Instead, we have made greater use of straw bale, earth, roots, wood, bamboo, cane, adobe and stone.
We intend to illustrate that a festival experience can be an experience of tomorrow’s world. Given that the construction industry is responsible for some 25 percent of C02 emissions, the Boom experience also demonstrates the feasible solutions that are available with alternatives such as bio-construction and conscious living.
Our bio-construction projects minimise the use of products that require a considerable amount of embodied energy for their manufacture or transportation. We are also inspired by ancestral building techniques infused with a contemporary technological perspective for fruition at Boom.
Most of Boom is built from scratch, with designers challenged by the equation: 1 natural building = 1 piece of art.
We seek to harmoniously connect technologies with functional, artistic and decorative concepts in a natural environment that we simultaneously aim to protect; thus, satisfying our physical and spiritual needs.
