Much has happened since we last gathered at Boom in 2010 and looking around we can hardly recognize the world we used to know. Humanity is going through an unprecedented transition and now that we finally find ourselves in the much awaited year of 2012, more and more of us are awakening to the vision of humanity as a planetary family and becoming conscious of our roles as co-creators of the future.
At this time of mass metamorphosis we are called to radically change the way we think about nature, society, economics and life and to transform the way we relate to the world, to each other and to ourselves.
It is a crucial time in history for personal and collective transformation and it seems that humanity as a whole is rapidly losing interest in violence, destruction and lies.
In the world of economics, when the recent financial crisis’ revealed that privileged groups have set things up so that they are playing with a different set of rules than the great majority, the collective realization that “the game is rigged” lead millions to the streets, as exemplified by the rippling effect of the Arab Spring and the Occupy movements that spread across the globe like wild fire.
The global scale of activist movements raising awareness about ecological, social and economic injustice demonstrates the awakening of consciousness across the world.
After years and years of using more than nature can keep up with, what is now at stake is the natural capital that all life depends on – the web of life itself – and the next few years are our only chance to reverse this state of affairs.
Eco-philosopher Joanna Macy points to the importance, at this time of unprecedented possibilities for change, to release our need to be “certain” before we take action. She points to three different ways we can engage in what she calls “The Great Turning”: we can resist and slow down the destruction that is going on, we can create new structures, which she refers to as a little bit of green sprouting up through our dysfunctional society, and we can shift consciousness.
We see Boom as part of the green that’s sprouting up around the planet and at the Liminal Village we strive to be a portal for consciousness expansion, offering tools for transformation – of ourselves and our world.
Considered in a recent TED talk as one of the worlds few “Transformational Festivals”, Boom has become a meeting point between counter culture and consciousness.
What is already taking place on planet Earth is an evolutionary leap of consciousness on a species level and as more and more people remember that our lives have, above all else, a spiritual meaning, what is emerging is an awakened global citizenry with the tools, information and commitment to guide humanity in the great transition that is taking place. These are informed, optimistic people who understand the urgency of our times whilst seeing that the possibilities for making the world a better place have never been so tangible.
People who know that they’re significant as individuals, and realize at the same time that we’re all connected and part of something much bigger that’s happening through us. We invite you to be one of these people!
Our inner transformation and the evolution of life itself are no longer separate and we are moulding the new world with each thought, word and action taken.
The theme of Boom Festival 2012 is Alchemy and at the Liminal Village we are calling Here and Now the time for an alchemical transmutation of ourselves and our reality.
The Liminal Village at Boom 2012 presents a program of Workshops, Interactive Talks, Discussion Panels, Presentations and Paradigms Films, a platform for films and documentaries revolving around the themes of ecology, ethics, love, activism, economy, psychedelia and science, as well as a gallery for visionary art, the Third Eye Gallery.
For this edition of Boom the program at the Liminal Village is a journey through the following daily themes: Rights Of Pachamama (Day 1/29th July), Civil Sphere (Day 2/30th July), Art from the Heart (Day 3/31st July), Expanded Consciousness (Day 4/1st August), Rites of Passage (Day 5/2nd August) and Planetary Transformation (Day 6/3rd August).
