The power of the elements take precedence at the Sacred Fire where we manifest the art of living in a self-sustainable way by going completely off-the-grid and harmonizing with nature.
Conceived with the purest intentions of the heart, you will feel the magic of this beautiful space which has been created not just by the conviction to be self-sufficient – but from listening to nature and tapping into every square inch of the natural environment so that we can hear the sacred heartbeat of Gaia in order to learn what we need to know.
By doing this, we become conscious of the fact that EVERYTHING WE NEED IS ALREADY RIGHT HERE. Mother Nature has provided us with this and so all we do is illuminate Her radiance by working with the earth and climate and by acquiring the tools of wisdom to create this vibrant space that we have for you.
This year, Sacred Fire, makes a huge contribution to Boom’s Environmental Program by going completely off-the-grid, depending on solar and veg-oil powered generators and a solar-powered irrigation system. More than 90 percent of materials here have also been recycled.
The Sacred Elements
The spirit of the elements is vivid at the Sacred Fire and symbolised by the flames of its characteristic Fire; by the Zen of its water-lilly ponds – now occupied by frogs(!); by the Earth of its enchanted forest-garden and represented by the Air of sounds from the global underground of world music, which will be projected from the natural stage that has always been here, waiting for us to use.
Music Themes
At the Sacred Fire, bands and DJs resonate with a specific theme for each day, beginning with Psychedelic Universes on Day 1 when sounds venture from Rock to Cosmic. Africa becomes queen of the Sacred Fire on Day 2 with the theme, African Seeds, which features a wide variety of music styles from the beautiful black continent, including: Afro Beat, Ngumbé, Semba, Mazurka, African Blues, Senegalese music, Ethno Jazz and more… By Day 3, the soulful instrumentals of Jazz, Funk and Tribal connect with the theme, Spiritual Ground.
The party continues on Day 4 with Exotic Grooves that follow music from Jamaica to India, while on Day 5 artists bring on the sounds of South America with the theme, Latin Americando. Prepare for the big band finale and a fusion of music mayhem on the afternoon of Day 6 when the energy of the festival culminates to make this the apex of the music program.
Practical Workshops
For the first time in the history of Sacred Fire, we present an interesting selection of practical workshops. Ancient primitive ways of being unite with modern skills when we apply our intelligence in order to achieve a fulfilling, sustainable living with workshops that include: Wild Fermentation; Vibrational Garden; Permaculture; Herbal Medicine and Ecstatic Dance.
Art at Sacred Fire
With amazing natural art and life-like sculptures everywhere – each corner of the Sacred Fire has been created with love. The artist, Shrine is also back for Boom 2012. This time, he has transformed Sacred Fire’s 2010 music stage into a beautiful recycled structure that will house the infamous Gamelatron robotic orchestra installation! It’s an incredible space where you can sit on the deck, absorb the view of the lake and feel the gong-sound vibrations emanating from this magic music machine.
