Ticket Resale Platform

Third-Party Ticket Resale Platform TicketSwap Available for Boom 2020/2021/2022 Tickets

With the rescheduling of Boom 2020/2021 to 22 - 29 July 2022 (New Moon) due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we’re sensitive to the condition of Boomers who cannot make it to the festival next year. Whilst the legal framework referring to festivals and events happening this summer in Portugal remains ambiguous (to say the least), we’ve found a solution which benefits all.

On 3 May 2021, we’re enabling a Boom Festival TicketSwap page to allow tickets to be resold and purchased in a safe, quick and simple way.

The FAQ below is meant to clarify any questions you might have on how TicketSwap operates. More updates will be provided via our newsletter in the months to come.

Boom is free from state and corporate advertising, sponsorship and investment. By placing your ticket on TicketSwap instead of asking for a refund, you’re contributing to the festival’s survival and mind-blowing 25th anniversary edition, for all of the community to experience.

It is thanks to your continuous love and support that Boom continues to thrive for more than two decades. Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When is the Boom Festival Ticketswap Page Opening?

On 3 May 2021.

Why Ticketswap?

TicketSwap is a safe, easy and fair place to purchase or resell your Boom Festival tickets, Boom Bus tickets, and other services such as accommodation. Fraud is prevented by strict checks and collaborations between Boom and TicketSwap.

  • It's safe. TicketSwap is safe. The tickets and sellers on the platform are verified based on several criteria. Through partnerships with organisations and ticket providers, TicketSwap offers Secure Swap tickets which are 100%. Read more about Secure Swap here.
  • It's easy. Listing a ticket can be done in a few clicks. Simply upload your ticket on the TicketSwap platform and provide the required information. After this, you can sit back and relax - you will be notified when your ticket and/or services have been sold and the money will be transferred to your bank account in 3 working days. Getting a ticket is really easy as well. The ticket will be available in your TicketSwap account and sent to your e-mail inbox immediately.
Please note: only ticket buyers can authorise the resale. Ticketholders (Boomers whose ticket was purchased by a third-party) can only resell their ticket with the ticket buyer’s authorisation.
  • It's fair. As a TicketSwap user you know you’ll be paying a fair price for your tickets. The platform protects buyers from overpricing by preventing from selling tickets/services at a value superior to face value.

  • Boom Festival is a limited capacity event and tickets to Boom 2022 are sold out. If you cannot attend Boom 2022, place your ticket on TicketSwap to make it available to another Boomer.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP IN THIS CRISIS?
  • If you can’t come to Boom in 2022, consider placing your ticket and acquired services to be resold on TicketSwap, instead of asking for a refund. We’re a 100% independent festival, which means that ticket and/or services refunds puts the festival at existential risk. When the resale process happens on the TicketSwap platform, the funds for Boom 2022 remain secured to be invested in the festival production, to create a magical experience for the whole Boom community.
  • Keep a critical mind. Look for varied and credible sources of information to form your own opinions. The world needs conscious citizens to create societies that’ll bring values of solidarity, democracy, justice and respect of the environment when we start living in the post-Covid-19 world.
  • Make a donation to our organisation:
  • By not asking for a ticket refund - in case you cannot attend Boom in 2022. Not making Boom happen this year puts us in a critical situation that places our survival at risk. We’ve got 30 people on a monthly payroll, there’s daily costs associated with Boomland’s environment regeneration projects, there’s also hundreds of culture professionals in our wider team, plus the need of keeping funds to actually produce the festival. We have not remained unharmed by Covid-19 and we’re living in very complex times. All support is welcome.
  • By donating to Boomland a sum to help us pay the remaining amount of the loan we took to purchase it. Follow the instructions on this link if you wish to do so. In 2016 we managed to acquire this magical land but we’re still falling short on payment. Failing to make Boom happen creates lack of cash flow. We are deeply grateful for any contribution you may provide to help us follow our purpose of human transformation and ecosystem regeneration.
  • Don’t contribute to the waste avalanche caused by the pandemic. Disposable plastic is making a strong comeback due to fear of Covid-19. Masks invade our streets and pollute the oceans. Act responsibly.
  • Help the cultural and creative sectors thrive by supporting independent artists, organisations and associations. Be on the lookout for anyone around you who may need assistance - a family member, a neighbour, a friend, and even a stranger.
  • Be kind to yourself. Stay healthy. Remain vigilant around authorities but also YouTube-specialists: This pandemic has brought to light excessive oppression, invasion of basic freedoms, incompetence on the part of leaderships in dealing with the unknown. But it also highlighted the importance of health, scientific knowledge, ancestral wisdom, of looking at the Earth as an interdependent system; and it made evident the dangers of outlandish theories and visions.

We remain present through [email protected] in case you’ve got any doubt or if you wish to share your impressions with us.

I NEED A REFUND: WHAT CAN I DO?
  • The Boom Festival economic model does not entail any sort of sponsorship. We’re profoundly sensitive to the condition of Boomers. At present, Portuguese law makes no mention whatsoever of festivals which cannot take place in 2021 due to the pandemic. While we wait for more clarity on this topic, we’ve found a solution to help Boomers who wish to resell or purchase tickets.
  • The fastest and most simple way to obtain a refund is via TicketSwap, which we’ll launch on 3 May 2021.
  • This platform is external to Boom and operates on a peer-to-peer, decentralised model - meaning that it gives the opportunity to another Boomer to experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment: the celebration of Boom Festival’s 25th birthday in 2022. Go here to know more about TicketSwap.
  • Boom Festival exists thanks to your support via ticket purchase. If you cannot come to Boom in the summer of 2022, TicketSwap is the fastest, simplest solution and the one which carries the least negative consequences for the development of the festival. Resale through TicketSwap allows us, Boom Team, to safeguard these funds to produce the 25th anniversary edition of Boom in 2022.
  • Direct ticket refunds in Portugal are, up to 25 March 2021, in a loophole. In the Portuguese ticketing legislation within the Covid-19 context, the Decree-Law nº10-I/2020 was approved on 26 March 2020 and then altered by article 7th of Decree-Law nº6-E/2021 of 15 January, which establishes exceptional and temporary measures of response to the Covid-19 pandemic with regards to the artistic and cultural sectors, applied to shows which did not take place between 28 February 2020 and 31 March 2021. In other words, until 25 March 2021, Summer festivals which cannot take place due to the pandemic are ruled by regulations that have not yet been published and laws which are not yet in effect!
  • It’s a ludicrous situation, at the very least; still, we’re sensitive to the condition of those who are unable to come, and thus we’ve come up with a solution with TicketSwap, to be launched on 3 May 2021.
  • According to this ruling, refunds can be solicited from 1 January 2022 within a 10 working day timeframe. In case the law changes in the meantime to consider events rescheduled due to the pandemic in 2021, we’ll adjust the refunds timeframe to another date immediately. All the information on this topic will be disclosed as soon as we have further news from the official lawmakers.
