BOOM FESTIVAL 2016 - 11th EDITION

Multiculturalism has a long history in the pristine surroundings of Boom

Boom wants to provide the ultimate setting for a transformational experience. To do so, it benefits greatly from its own setting: The surrounding region is extremely rich and diverse – both naturally and historically.

The unspoilt beauty of these surroundings is probably the most striking feature of this region. Its vast open skies, its smooth blend of earthy colours and its fragrance of pine trees, cork oaks, olive trees and wild roses create a vibe that is simply unique. Time is suddenly a very relative thing, it almost feels like a dinosaur might walk around the corner at any moment... Keep this in mind when you plan your trip to Boom, there's many amazing places to discover!

By the way: Just a few kilometres from Boom you might run into a cute little village that looks like it popped out of a fairytale. It's called Idanha-a-Velha, one of the oldest villages in Portugal. Just like Boom it's a melting pot of cultures: Founded by the Romans around 2000 years, this place was influenced by all the different people that passed through here shaped the history of Portugal, such as the Visigoths, the Moors and the Templar Knights, the Celt and the Iberians. As a matter of fact it seems as if this place has been an epicentre of multiculturalism for thousands of years already! If you happen to speak Portuguese, you'll get a lot of information in this little video – if you don't, you just get to see beautiful pictures.
