Here in Boomland, the year of 2018 is slowly coming to its end - and with it comes the wrapping up of all things Boom 2018.
This past year was marking for a number of reasons; one of them was the production of a very special piece that puts the 20 years of Boom into numbers, words and images.
Thus, we’ve collaborated with dozens of people to bring to the world the book Boom Festival 20 Years: A Visual and Oral History, a 356 page compilation of testimonies, photographs, flyer art imagery, and graphic design illustration.
The book tells the compelling story of Boom, starting with an essay comparing contemporary festival culture and the ancient rites of Eleusis, before leaping forward to the 21st century. Told from 134 different perspectives, Boom’s birth and growth are documented in three distinct chapters which bring a deeper sense of context for each period: 1997-2000; 2002-2008; and 2010-today. The whole is illustrated by exclusive photographs, some of which have never been published before.
We’ve created a microsite where you’ll find a glimpse of the book and additional information about it. There you will also find the information you need if you wish to purchase it. To visit the microsite, go HERE.
The next time you’ll hear from us will be in the year 2019 - stay tuned with our multiple channels, as we’ll keep posting Boom 2018 sets from the different music stages, as well a selection of the Liminal Village talks.
As these words echo around the world, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the fantastic year 2018 that you have given us.
