MARIA CORRÊA ALVES
Maria Corrêa Alves was born in Oporto. In 2005 she finished the Contemporary Dance course in “Escola Profissional e Artística Balleteatro Contemporâneo do Porto”. Teaching dance classes during the next 5 years. Within an early interest in Alternative Medicine, on 2007 began her studies on Therapist Massage, followed by Traditional Chinese Medicine at “Instituto Português de Naturologia do Porto”. Having completed 5 years of integrated course, including the professional internship, did 15 months of post-graduation in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the summer of 2013, created a massage project - MARIPOSA – terapias em movimento - developed in Music festivals and other cultural events. Maria works as a massage therapist and traditional Chinese medicine in her office “MARIPOSA- terapias” in Porto. “Massage is like a dance works the body and mind”(Maria).
Is a medical specialty within Traditional Chinese Medicine, that uses the hands as an instrument to treat illness, is one of the oldest forms of Chinese medicine. The massage movements are more vigorous than other massage techniques and the benefits go far beyond the relaxation of tense muscles. As the name implies, Tui means “push” and Na means “grab”. The purpose of Tui- na is to reach effects of the body’s own healing stimulating the meridians of acupuncture so that the body corrects any eventual imbalances.
A therapeutic method originated in Japan , which as the name indicates “Shi” means fingers and “Atsu” means pressure, its based on the application of pressure with the fingers, smooth but deep on energy points located on the meridians of the body, to well balance and restore your energy. Treatment techniques include breathing exercises, stretching, percussion and massage.

With the prior application of oils we can obtain similar to the effects of the massage , sliding the suction cup in certain areas of the body , this technique is used to activate circulation , remove stagnation , unblock energy and improve the functioning of the organs .
