Mark van Voorden
After growing up surrounded by technology and working in IT for many years, the road called him in 2013, where at some point he received a Thai massage and fell in love with it. Two years later he found himself in Thailand, where he studied the technique and got his certification. After a lot of practice he started to provide his services on the beaches of Portugal, and later on festivals, in exchange for voluntary donations wherever possible. Doing so has been a huge incentive to give the best he can, thus creating value for his client. As value is relative to the receiver, asking a fixed price would exclude many people from getting something they need, and division is something he is not comfortable with. He hopes one day we can all sustain ourselves by giving from the heart.

Thai Massage is an ancient healing art which finds its roots in yoga, acupuncture, Buddhism, and both Chinese and local medicinal practices. The technique involves performing yoga-like stretches on the client, as well as pressing specific energy points and those along energy lines. The flowing movement of the therapist along the body will help both giver and receiver to enter into a meditative state, allowing for optimal relaxation and to be fully in the moment. For Boom Festival I designed a specific routine that focuses on the feet, legs, back, shoulders and neck, to help recover after a lot of dancing and sleeping in unusual positions.
