Each year, a fresh series of rumours about Boom circulate the cyber-space and the world. The Boom production team itself has always chosen to maintain a low profile - and this is based on the belief that Boom goes beyond faces and individuals. This is based on the belief that Boom goes beyond the names and faces of the beings facilitate this event. You guys must have noticed the eye inside the pyramid of the 2012 imagery of the Dragon: Good job! Be aware, we will send this and many more mysterious symbols for you to remain alert (but nobody is a mason here)!
"THE BOOM WAS SOLD TO A COMMERCIAL ORGANISATION"
No way! Good Mood Productions has been the organisation behind Boom Festival since its very beginning. In fact, Good Mood has organised many other events in Portugal too, including abroad in Brazil, the UK, Israel and Goa. It has also launched a number of coordinated permaculture courses, curated art initiatives, developed environmental projects for festivals and natural parks, published the Boom Book and produced movies, DVDs and CDs - including the first ever psychedelic trance CD by Portuguese artists.
Since its inception, Good Mood has weathered the storm of the ‘seasons’, with many individuals and team members that have come and gone. They have migrated to other projects or they have departed from this dimension. Meanwhile, new members have continued to arrive to keep the vibe alive.
And since nothing in the world is achieved by just one, two or three persons alone — over the years, it has been the talent and vision of many team leaders, team members, artists, unknown folk and crews that has been fundamental to the adaptation of the festival to an ever-mutating world.
Intrinsically, Boom is the result of a team of friends who come from many different countries to form a non-hierarchical and consensus-based decision-making culture.

On this point, we are really sorry to disappoint you! Contrary to common belief, the Boom Festival team is a group of people from Portugal and around the world and does not generate lucrative profits.
Revenues are applied to Boomland and its projects. Revenues are also allocated to charity via the social initiative, Boom Karuna Project. The team members are from various countries and enjoy a simple (and fun) lifestyle. They are focused on keeping Boom alive and work on several other projects. Most of the team live an alternative lifestyle across the world.
Boom sticks to its principles as a non-commercial entity and as a result, edition after edition it often struggles to survive. A huge investment goes into the event’s environmental program and each edition is fully re-designed. It also has to deal with a pretty hardcore Portuguese tax system, which means overall, production costs are extremely high.

We love Burning Man. A lot! And we are very happy that Boom is considered alongside Burning Man, to be one of the world's most transformational and revolutionary events. However, we are independent from one another.

Aha! This is an inspiring topic of conversation for the many people who would like Boom to manifest itself into a “permanent event”.

Yes, the Boom Team is also made up of many fantastic Brazilian members, but there are also other wonderful, hardworking people from 47 different countries (data: circa Boom 2016). They collaborate to bring Boom to life and this allows us to transcend our nationalities. First and foremost, we're all Boomers!
"BOOM IS SPONSORED BY A BIG ADVERTISING AGENCY"
Well, that would be true if this big advertising agency was made by all the Boomers who go back home and spread the vibe all over the world! Boom is a No Corporate Logo area with no other sponsors except the thousands of Boomers who invest their money into buying their tickets to come to the festival. They do indeed form part of the most effective and dedicated advertising agency that ever existed! Without Boomers, there would be no Boom, and they are in our thoughts and hearts everyday.
"NEXT BOOM WILL BE IN FRANCE"
Well, there is only one Boom and it will always happen in Portugal - a psychedelic festival and gathering of free people — but we do hope many other Boom-inspired events will sprout all over the world! Perhaps other ‘Booms’ will pop up with no association to the original Boom Festival, or maybe some will just want to emulate its name. This is not something we can prevent, but there is only one Boom Festival, and it began in Portugal in 1997 and is focused on the development of psychedelic arts, music, culture and sustainability. Spread the vibe, to France and beyond!!
