Boom Book 20 Years Nominated for Award
Twenty year anniversary editorial project nominated for award in Portuguese design contest
The book Boom Festival 20 Years: A Visual and Oral History was recently nominated for the 2019 Design Award, promoted by the Direcção Geral do Livro (DGLAB), Portugal's general book, archive and library institution, along 13 other books. This came as a happy surprise as we had not applied for any contest.
There will be an exhibition both in Lisbon and Oporto, and the book will also travel to Germany to attend the largest book fair in Europe. What is more, the jury selected the Boom book to represent Portugal in the Best Book Design From All Over the World 2020, an international book contest.
Not so long ago, the Boom 20 Years documentary was also selected as one of the nine most relevant documentaries about Portuguese music in the 21st century, in an article published by Vice Magazine, "23 Essential Moments in Portuguese Music of this Millenium".
Both projects were produced 100 per cent independently and without any sponsorships. They were made possible solely thanks to the support of the Boom community, via Boom ticket purchase.
It's an honour to see both editorial projects recognised for their quality and contribution to the overall cultural scene. We're deeply grateful to all who contributed to make them happen.
