Boom Karuna Project in Africa
How We Took Karuna Project To African Islands Of São Tomé And Príncipe
Boom Karuna Project was born in 2014 as a charity initiative with the purpose of channelling festival revenues to empower communities. So far, we’ve been mostly working with local organisations and associations. However, recently, we decided to go beyond the local region and launch a project in the archipelago of São Tomé and Príncipe, in Africa.
Between 2 and 6 of June 2019, the project involved two main initiatives. Firstly, the donation of an open source plastic recycling machine to the NGO Missão Dimix to be handled by locals so they could turn waste into everyday objects. Secondly, the intention was to empower communities to operate the machine and raise awareness about the potential that lies in upcycling plastic waste.
Daily reports were published on our social media channels. Stay tuned for more Boom Karuna projects soon.
Funds from ticket sales enabled the Boom Karuna Project to venture beyond European borders. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS - MUITO OBRIGADO/A!

More news coming your way next full moon. Until then we’ll be working on the new website, having vision meetings with the crew while also doing the post-production of the sensorial film about Boom 2018. And the list goes on...
