Dear Boomers,
In times where misinformation and mental confusion abound, it's crucial to listen to the voice of nature. She is at the heart of everything we do – the reason behind all our environmental projects.
Our goal is to create a festival and a Boomland that move in harmony with natural cycles and needs by developing technologies that serve an eco-aware way of living.
In this first chapter of the Eco Letter to the Boomers, we’re excited to share some key insights from the 2025 edition.

This year, the rains blessed us with an abundance of water: approximately 20% more volume of water in the lake than the previous edition. While this meant less land for the festival, it was a beautiful reminder that water is life. We deeply cherish this gift, especially in a region prone to summer droughts and fire risks, where water sources are precious.
That's why water management is at the heart of our actions. Over the years, we've implemented several key initiatives:
-
2006: We pioneered the introduction of dry compost toilets, eliminating water and chemical use.
-
2010: We built our first dedicated water bio treatment plant.
-
2020/21: We constructed a new, advanced water treatment station with a storage capacity of 7million litres.
-
Native Flora: We embrace nature's wisdom by planting native plants, trees, and shrubs that thrive with minimal water.
-
Conscious Consumption: We encourage responsible water use through measures like shower time limits, fostering a culture of conservation.
-
Awareness: Our #SaveTheDrop campaign actively inspires everyone to embrace the vital importance of protecting our precious water resources.

We are excited to share developments in our Eco Sanitation efforts. Since 2006, we’ve been developing and refining different types of composting toilets, and this year marks a landmark with the introduction of our most advanced version yet.

In 2025, we provided a total of 538 units of compost toilets, an increase of 17.7% compared with 2023.

Note: Total amount of leachate from the toilets treated on-site: 87,000 litres.
FOOD
|
|
One of the aspects that pleases us most is our selection of quality, conscious food, with a focus on health, diversity, and minimising fast food. But it’s not just about what we eat – it’s about how we share it. At Boom, we design spaces that invite people to gather, connect, and eat together in community. Our heartfelt thanks go to the 45 food vendors from around the world who nourished the Boomers with their delicious and nutritious creations.

COLLECTIVE TRANSPORT PRODUCED GOOD RESULTS
|
|
Transport accounts for around one-fifth of global CO2 emissions – and three-quarters of that comes from road transport.
Car Sharing: Fun & Group Vibes
-
Through a new collaboration with the rideshare platform Slinger, we made a real impact on environmental sustainability. This initiative saved over 94,000km of travel thanks to 118 successful rides and 93 passengers.
-
With nearly 80% of all offered rides matched – well above the average rate – we’re helping to reduce individual car journeys and their environmental footprint.
Boom Bus: We Introduced A New Route
-
We launched a new route from Porto, complementing our existing services from Lisboa and Madrid, all of which saw positive engagement.
-
We’re continuing to refine the flow of arrivals and departures, as we’re not yet fully satisfied with the process – and always strive to improve.
-
With 26% of Boomers choosing collective transport this year, we've achieved a strong result that we are committed to build upon.

In our next Eco Letter to the Boomers or in Social Awareness newsletter, we'll continue to share the results of our environmental and social initiatives with you, and together as the Boom community, we can create a positive human culture of connection, care and harmony with Mother Earth.
