Letter to the Boomers 2025
A Look at This Edition: Facts and Figures
Integration is a fundamental step in the psychedelic journey. For us as an organisation, integration means tuning in to what we’ve felt and observed, taking time to debrief, and for reflection.
We exist to serve you and to create a transformative human experience where celebration, nature, arts, and community are essential pillars. That’s why, after every edition, we write this letter to you – not only to share facts and figures, but also to offer a transparent self-reflection.
So come along with us on this read, let’s integrate together!
How many people were actually at Boom 2025? It’s a question we hear often – and the answer can easily get lost between big numbers and personal perceptions. So the number below brings clarity: it includes everyone who made up the festival community in 2025 – from attendees, staff, and artists to facilitators, guests, speakers, therapists, and the many other dedicated professionals who brought Boom to life.
Looking deeper into that number below reveals something that always makes us proud: Boom is a global culture. In 2025, Boomers came from 165 countries, turning Idanha-a-Nova into a living example of peace, love, and community. This is what touches us most: the worldwide web of Boomers, and the way we become One – beyond borders and identities – whenever we gather at Boomland.
We’re proud to be one of the few festivals in the world that publicly shares its financial accounts. Below you’ll find ticket prices, shown alongside the equivalent daily cost spread across the days of the festival. Our aim is always to stay sensitive to different economic realities while ensuring the festival can thrive.
Each edition, ticket prices must be adjusted so we can continue delivering the best possible production and experience. Boom has no sponsors and no corporate backing – it is 100% independent, sustained only through tickets, bar revenues, and space rentals to stalls and food vendors.
It is you who make Boom possible. In 2025 we marked our 7th consecutive sold-out edition – selling out in just 48 hours, without even announcing a line-up. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you. Muito obrigado.
Boom is a community experience. We thank all the human beings of 72 countries in our long-term and short-term teams who contributed to the success of this edition. A special word of gratitude goes to our volunteers too.
Below you can find the figures of how many people worked behind the scenes to make Boom 2025 possible.
We built 44 new showers and 81 new toilets; including the restoration of several dozen compost toilets and the introduction of new models: both fixed units and trailers. With every edition, we increase these numbers and will continue to do so in the future. Stay tuned for the upcoming Eco Letters to the Boomers, where we’ll share more insights about the facilities.
We are a psychedelic culture festival, and throughout Boom week we hosted hundreds of dance, performance art, and music shows. With breathtaking decoration, stunning scenography, and unique architecture, these were true temples of culture and love. A thank-you to all the artists that shared their talents with the Boom community. Where did you spend most of your time?
This edition of Boom brought fresh connections between art, culture, education, performance, spirituality, well-being, and human growth. The Chi Temple found a new home with what many called the most magical view in Boomland. A monumental sculpture by Daniel Popper rose in the Sacred Fire/Being Fields, becoming an instant landmark and a point of gathering. Across every space, the programme was alive with inspiration. We are full of gratitude for the facilitators, therapists, speakers, and every single participant who carried the spirit of Boom into action.
Food vendors and market stalls are part of the fabric of Boom – not only as places to eat or trade, but as meeting points where we gather, share, and celebrate creativity. They are spaces where sustainability shows in every detail, and where the spirit of community can be felt in something as simple as a meal together. This year the Boom Souk – once known as the Pirate Market – returned in a new form, reshaped into an ordered space.
We have been the target of countless campaigns online. Let’s rewind: in 2023, Boom reflected on a tragic attack that happened at a psytrance gathering, under the theme “We The Dancers”. It was never about politics, countries, or religion. As a festival rooted in psytrance and psychedelic culture, no matter where in the world this happened, it would still have been our duty to reflect and share a perspective on what unfolded. After that moment, what followed in Gaza was a conflict, a genocide, and a humanitarian crisis without precedent, for the sheer lack of humanism behind it.
Then, in the months leading up to Boom Festival 2025, several online groups dragged us into a conflict to which neither the festival nor its team had any connection. What followed was a wave of distortions – public attacks, smear campaigns, and calls for boycotts – even letters accusing Boom of being “complicit in genocide.” Hate speech was directed at our team, alongside wild rumours of supposed plots to target people of certain nationalities. These falsehoods were not only hurtful, they were absurd – and completely disconnected from the reality of Boom.
We witnessed it all while never stopping our work behind the scenes. You can read all the steps we’ve been taking on our website. We believe that actions speak louder than social media statements and slacktivism; and that is what we chose to do: to act – in concrete, tangible ways, guided by human values.
Finally, recently, because we chose to support the missions of Oxfam and Doctors Without Borders in Gaza, or in Ukraine, more backlash came our way.
To all who judged us or tried to stage a new inquisition: next time, before making up your mind, please ask. We are always open and willing to answer your questions.
More important than acts of public judgment, what we truly remember is not the online noise, it is the real Boomers and their profound example of tolerance, peace, and community spirit. With awareness of what is going on in crisis zones, the vibe we created together was a shining example of a culture of peace and love in this world. Almost 45,000 people from 165 countries created this feeling together. Thank you for embodying the example the world needs.
We know that waiting dozens of hours to enter Boom is not acceptable. Every edition we face complex challenges at the gates: there is only one main entry and exit point because of the natural shape of the land; the access roads don’t belong to Boom and require agreements with several private owners; Caravan Parks B, C, and D, as well as parts of the car park, are rented land; and, for fire safety, every vehicle must be parked in reverse to ensure an emergency exit. These and other factors make the logistics extremely difficult.
Even so, the delays this year went far beyond what we consider acceptable. We are already working on a redesigned entry system to ensure a smoother and safer arrival in 2027. To all Boomers who endured the wait with patience and understanding: thank you from the heart. This situation touched us profoundly, and we are fully committed to making sure it does not happen again.
Another topic to reflect and improve: we acknowledge that the Boom Bus departure times in 2025 did not live up to the experience we want to provide. We sincerely apologise for this situation, which in some cases caused discomfort that was not acceptable. This year, with the intention of serving you better, we introduced several changes: we implemented scheduled times; redesigned the Boom Bus Station to make space for camping zones; we opened three routes (Lisbon, Madrid, and the new one from Porto); and changed some of the check-in points outside the festival.
Unfortunately, these adjustments did not bring the results we hoped for. We are already reviewing the entire operation. Our goal is clear: shorter waiting times, faster departures, and greater comfort.
We feel deeply grateful for the experience we were able to share with you. This edition brought many innovations – from new art and architecture to solutions like improved water distribution – and welcomed fresh energy into our teams. Yet what stands out above all is something less tangible: the invisible, the magical vibration that arises when thousands of people move in unison. What a V-I-B-E. What a Ritual of Dance.
From the moment the community set foot in Boomland, a unique energy unfolded – a sense of magic in the air, a profound connection between human beings. Boom has always carried the spirit of dance and movement, and this was alive everywhere: in the fire of the dance floors, in the joy of celebrating together, and in the quieter spaces of reflection and healing. At times, stepping onto the floor felt magnetic, the air alive with something beyond words.
In a world marked by suffering and uncertainty, this was a luminous celebration of what Boom culture can be. And now our hearts are already beating faster for what comes next: the 30th anniversary in 2027.
Stay tuned for our next steps of self-reflection and sharing:
