Social Awareness Projects At Boom 2025

Our Overview of Social Projects.

Our overview of social projects

We are social beings. In a world where noise often replaces truth and division overshadows connection, dance becomes the ritual that brings us back to ourselves, to one another, and to deeper realms of being.

In 2025, we honoured the Ritual of Dance. Through movement, the boundaries of identity dissolve. No social labels, no flags, no divisions. We celebrate peace as a lived practice through a culture of non-violence, compassion, and inner serenity.

By sharing the outcomes of our social awareness efforts, we strengthen a collective consciousness rooted in care for one another and society as a whole — which is especially important in times of polarisation. Read on to learn about the initiatives that we ran throughout 2025.

TRANSPARENCY OF COSTS AND PROFITS

  • Transparency boards: We expanded our transparency boards, sharing the breakdown of costs and profits of the products served at our bars. Below, a transparency board pertaining to this edition.

  • We are one of the very few festivals that openly share their financial accounts; they are published online — ensuring Boomers can clearly understand how their contributions help shape the festival and Boomland.

  • Social Menu: All food vendors are required to offer a meal at an accessible price, ensuring affordability and accessibility for all Boomers.

BOOM KARUNA PROJECTS:
PROFITS TO HUMANITARIAN AND ECO CAUSES

Through the Boom Karuna Project (established in 2014), we have been supporting several social and humanitarian initiatives. In 2025 we supported two humanitarian causes in a crisis zone, one eco organisation, and more:

  • Oxfam and Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) to support their humanitarian missions in Gaza.
  • Ocean Alive foundation, a Portuguese NGOD dedicated to the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems.
  • Idanha-a-Nova firefighters.

Cashless refunds: You also contributed to our social awareness — Thank you! Your generosity resulted in a total of €23,806.16, which has been donated to the following organisations:

  • IdanhaCulta — The non-profit association that manages the reforestation and regeneration of the ecosystem of Boomland (total donated: €10,392.45).
  • Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF — A fully independent organisation providing emergency medical care in Gaza (total donated: €8,634.40).
  • Music Saves Ukraine | UAME — A Ukrainian music platform supporting humanitarian aid in Ukraine (total donated: €4,779.31).

Boomers embracing Love Has No Flag

LOVE HAS NO FLAG: AWAKENING ONENESS

  • Love Has No Flag is a campaign we started in 2012. At Boom, we invite Boomers to dissolve their conventional ego, awaken their universal self beyond identity, nation or border. Unlike commercial festivals or mass sporting events, national flags are not part of the Boom culture. They create separation, and we seek unity.

  • In 2025, we reinforced this message across our official channels and brought it to life on-site through a flag and murals. Love Has No Flag became an omnipresent symbol of peace and understanding — and we are delighted to see these beautiful flags in so many places, parties, and festivals. May it spread love and tolerance everywhere!
Boomers at Alchemy Circle

SUPPORTING LOCAL COMMUNITIES & ECONOMIES

We run dedicated campaigns for the region of Boom to join the team and experience the festival. This year, these actions reached Idanha-a-Nova, Ladoeiro, Zebreira, Monsanto and Penha Garcia (Castelo Branco district):

  • 12% of all people working came from the Castelo Branco district.

  • We also support the economy in this region: a significant part (19%) of the festival's suppliers are from the Castelo Branco district.

ACCESSIBILITY: MAKE BOOM BETTER FOR EVERYONE

The Accessibility Programme ensures that all Boomers can experience the festival fully.

Key initiatives in 2025 included:

  • 343 Boomers registered.
  • Training: staff trained by Acesso Cultura and Boom’s team in inclusion and empathy.
  • Cross-team coordination to align accessibility solutions across gates, parking, commercial, artistic areas, and safety.
  • Dedicated team onsite.

  • Menus in braille available at bars.

Adapted compost toilet

  • Accessible infrastructure and facilities:
    • 10 adapted compost toilets.
    • Accessible showers and massage booths.
    • Platforms in music areas.
    • Shuttle service (incl. wheelchair-accessible vehicle).
    • Accessible parking and camping with energy points.
    • Medication fridge service.

INCLUSIVE TICKETING

A guest country is invited to Boom each edition. India was the guest country this year, and 500 free tickets were made available for people with an Indian passport and proof of residency. We also developed once again a Friendly Price ticket for countries with weaker economies.

YOUNG GENERATION AT BOOM

  • In 2025, the number of young Boomers under 18 registered grew by nearly 70%.

TEAM AND PROGRAMME FACTS & FIGURES

  • In 2025, we had 2,591 people working across all phases, and as in every edition, we aimed for the greatest possible cultural diversity within the team.

  • In terms of representation, for both the team and official programme gender balance is significant, yet still not 100%.
  • During the construction phase, achieving gender balance proved to be challenging for certain construction tasks.

  • The representation of people with other gender identities is present but residual within the overall statistics for both the team and the programme.

BOOM TEAM AWARENESS INITIATIVES

  • We run an Awareness Programme designed to support the well-being of every Boom Team member.

The programme offers a range of services, including coaching, emotional support from on-demand psychologists, integrative check-ins, therapeutic bodywork, movement practices and sports activities, meditation and breathwork, a forest school for workers’ children, compostable WC workshops, Kosmicare training, and a tour of the Boomland surroundings.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading the facts and figures about our 2025 edition of Boom Festival. All the information from the eco and social awareness initiatives is rooted in our ethos, the Boom way of doing festivals — and you are the ones that make all this happen.

And Boomland remains alive and active. In 2026, it will open its arms to the Being Gathering (1 to 5 July), an unorthodox conscious festival that bridges ancient spiritual traditions with contemporary practices, offering tools for inner well-being and collective awakening.

Thank you for being a Boomer.
