Today, we celebrate an important date in the region of the Earth where Boom is manifesting. From 28 May 1926 to 25 April 1974, there was a long period of oppression. During these years, parties, concerts, and public gatherings were forbidden. People couldn’t think or write freely, and meeting in groups of more than three was not allowed. Women weren’t permitted to wear bikinis or trousers. They couldn’t vote, leave the region without a husband's permission, or fully participate in public life. Before the transformative date of 25 April 1974, the land was marked by torture, censorship, imperialism, and systemic ignorance - 1 in 4 people could not read, and 53% of homes had no running water. 

The dictatorship ended on this precise day with a peaceful revolution symbolised by a carnation, the flower distributed to the population that went to the streets. The country was liberated, and a new phase began.

Today, only 45% of the world's population lives in a democracy, and regimes of division and oppression are growing. That’s why it’s so important to remember and honour the days of freedom.
