BOOM KARUNA PROJECT
An Charity Project that Supports Humanitarian Action Around the World
Named after the Sanskrit word for compassion, the Boom Karuna Project was conceived in 2014 with the intention of sharing a part of Boom’s revenues with the local Idanha-a-Nova community.
The Boom Karuna Project (created in 2014) was born as a way of redistributing part of Boom Festival's profits to support humanitarian, environmental and social causes, both locally and internationally.
Today, 1% of our EBITDA is donated to external organisations aligned with the core values of the organisation.
To date, the Boom Karuna Project has contributed around €250,000 to a wide range of initiatives.

SUPPORT IN SÃO TOME And PRINCÍPE
We supported the Association Missão Dimix. Young children were introduced to the concept of recycling waste that is washed up onto the shores of the African island nation of São Tomé & Príncipe.
Once collected, recycled plastic was transformed into bricks to be used in construction after they were processed by a plastic recycling machine.
A total of five days were spent working with children, teaching art through recycling and learning how waste can be used as a resource. From making baskets to growing vertical gardens from old plastic water bottles in which seeds were planted for aromatic plants - local children and adults learned new ways of using waste as a resource.
